Biography
"Unorthodox", "one of a kind", a "refreshing take on new age hip hop" a "breath of unique talent that exemplifies culture and individuality", "humble" these are just some of the phrases used to describe Pseika, a young, upcoming hip hop phenom out of Wilmington, NC. Born Jared Taylor to the Piedmont Area of North Carolina, from a young age it was well known that music was his passion. As time went on, this passion grew exponentially, and was shaped through life experiences. Jared hit the Wilmington hip hop scene, dawning the name Pseika winter 2015, and began making waves in the music community.
Currently approaching the release of his much anticipated "Villain" project, Pseika consistently brings fresh, fun and thought provoking material to his audience. Constantly working to cultivate his craft, Pseika also produces music and engineers for himself as well as his peers in his community. When he is not focused on music Pseika can often be found attending community functions and assemblies geared toward helping create a safe, healthy environment for local youth. Working closely with the lead and founding members of other music organizations, Pseika is adamant about his goal to "unify the music community and gain success in a fashion that allows [him] to give more to the next generation" by ensuring that the community advancement and music are intertwined.
Since his debut in the Port City, Pseika has been performing regularly throughout the Carolinas and Atlanta, GA, delivering mesmerizing performances with infectious energy and thought provoking lyricism and has opened for numerous artists including Afroman and Lil Wyte. Pseika is no stranger to putting together his own events either, helming the Insomnia event early 2017 which was stated by the owner of the Calico Room to be "one of the best events [she has] ever had in the establishment". Still, it's obvious that Pseika's primary motivation is his pure love of the craft. As such, you may still find him frequenting spoken word events, and performing at smaller more intimate venues in order to scratch the "itch" of connecting with a crowd through his music.
Pseika has plenty in store for fans in the upcoming months. Planning to release at least two projects this year and working toward performing for larger crowds in larger venues as well as creating events catered to college students, he hopes to bring his brand of hip hop to a place of true acceptance. "I make music that asks you to look inward for answers. I want people to not only get to know me, but themselves as they listen," said Pseika in a recent interview. This is evidenced by the rising popularity of songs such as Champagne & Stardust, Just, and Diamonds; however, this should not discount his ability to delivery solid bars on tracks like Levels or to turn up with songs such as 10x10. Pseika may just be one of the most unique artists in the era.
With Villain's release date looming ever closer, Pseika is quickly becoming an artist to watch. Called a true lyricist by fans and peers alike, Pseika's music is poised to steer hip hop to the next movement. Pseika is undoubtedly an artist to keep an eye on.
